Welcome To Blackhawk
Blackhawk California occupies an area of over 9 square miles, situated in an unincorporated area of Contra Costa County in the San Francisco East Bay.
Situated to the east of Danville along Camino Tassajara, this upscale San Ramon Valley community comprises approximately 11,000 people, and it has attracted business executives, entrepreneurs, professional athletes and media personalities as residents as well as a wide range of business professionals.
History Of Blackhawk
The history of Blackhawk began in the late 1970s when Ken Behring, Florida real estate developer, formed the Blackhawk Development Corporation to break ground on what was previously Blackhawk Ranch. Approximately 2,400 homes were built and 2,000 acres were dedicated to Open Space as part of the Mount Diablo State Park.
Blackhawk Neighborhoods
To many people, the name Blackhawk is synonymous with the gated Blackhawk Country Club, yet in reality, there are six additional Blackhawk neighborhoods, all gated communities, along Blackhawk Road, plus Blackhawk Country Club. These Blackhawk neighborhoods are all are connected by a 3-mile long jogging trail.
Blackhawk California Real Estate Costs
Although Blackhawk is rightfully considered to be an exclusive neighborhood, a close examination of recent sales shows that Blackhawk home prices vary considerably. A lot depends on condition and general level of improvements of course. Blackhawk is a well-established community and there are many options available for the potential buyer from homes in original condition to some amazing remodels.
Blackhawk Schools
Schools will be a subject that will be top of mind for many families moving in to the area and although none of the Blackhawk schools are within any of the various neighborhoods, schools for all ages are close by, and as part of the San Ramon Valley Unified School District, they are universally acclaimed. While which of the Blackhawk schools your children will attend can’t be guaranteed 100% (as they are sometimes impacted by demand), a call to the School District will generally answer that question quickly.
Blackhawk Recreation
As might be expected, golf plays a big part in the lives of many Blackhawk residents. Blackhawk Country Club provides an exclusive private membership opportunity for the most discerning golfers. In the middle of Country Club West is the 6,904 yard (6,313 m) Lakeside golf course, designed by Bruce Devlin and Robert Von Hagge, a course that annually hosts the Longs Drugs Challenge, an event on the LPGA Tour. The newer 6,700 yard (6,126 m) Falls golf course, designed by Ted Robinson, winds through Country Club East.
